Oklahoma Bar Association attorney arrested

Dan Murdock, general counsel for the Oklahoma Bar Association, confirmed his arrest Saturday night at Remington Park on complaints of sexual battery.

A police report from the incident reveals that it took place Saturday night at Remington Park where there was a wedding celebration in one of the private suites.

According to the alleged victim in the police report, a woman in her mid-thirties, Mr. Murdock invited her into a separate suite of his, which was empty, and where he then allegedly pulled her top down, groped her and even bit her.

Tom Riesen, Murdock's attorney, released a statement Sunday denying the allegations against Murdock. 

"At this time, Mr. Murdock does not intend to resign and we believe we're much too early in the process for that to be a consideration now."

Murdock brought the bar association's case of sexual misconduct against Oklahoma City attorney Michael Gassaway.

Gassaway's disbarment was recommended by a three-member Oklahoma Bar Association  disciplinary panel, which accused Gassaway of violating the rules of professional conduct for attorneys on at least five occasions.

The panel's recommendation was taken to the Oklahoma Supreme Court who permanently rescinded Gassaway's license to practice law. The court's decision was announced two weeks ago.

After the ruling, Murdock said it was beneficial to the legal system in Oklahoma. "The Supreme Court issued an order that maintains, I think, the integrity of the legal profession in the state of Oklahoma," Murdock said.
