A 19-year-old man was arrested Thursday for allegedly burglarizing more than 30 homes in northwest Oklahoma City, police said.
Reginald Gaines was arrested when he was found hiding at an Oklahoma City apartment complex, Oklahoma City police Sgt. Paco Balderrama said.
"He was captured after about six hours of trying to track him down," Balderrama said.
Police think Gaines and an accomplice are responsible for several break-ins in Nichols Hills, The Village and northwest Oklahoma City.
Several residents in the Quail Creek neighborhood installed home security systems after the subdivision was repeatedly targeted by thieves.
"It's not a very comfortable situation," resident Donald Criswell said.
Criswell said area residents were glad to hear an arrest was made, but they're not ready to forgo their extra security efforts.
"I just feel it's normalcy for people to stay a little bit more vigilante for a while," Criswell said.
Gaines was arrested last month and was later released on bond.
"At this point, he's going to have no bond because one of his warrants does carry no bond for failure to appear," Balderrama said.
Police said Gaines sold stolen items to people on the street, who would in turn sell the merchandise on the Internet.
