Metro area community agencies and OG&E are helping Oklahomans beat the heat.

OG&E donated 400 box fans to hand out to qualified seniors and disabled people.

Fans have been delivered to The Salvation Army, Areawide Aging Agency and Community Action Agency. Oklahoma City-area citizens may contact these agencies directly. The fans will be distributed by the agencies based on individual agency criteria for serving elderly and low-income Oklahomans

The Salvation Army will focus on distributing fans to seniors, people with a chronic illness or for homes with children six months old or younger. Anyone interested in obtaining a fan will need to complete an application form. The agency may be contacted at 246-1070.

Community Action Agency will distribute fans based on income. A family profile form must be completed and families cannot be more than 125 percent above the poverty line. Community Action may be contacted at 232-0199.

Areawide Aging Agency will make fans available to anyone age 60 or older and no application is needed. The agency may be reached at 943-4344.
