Homicide suspect involved standoff ends

A standoff in Tulsa ended Wednesday afternoon that involved a homicide suspect.

A man was shot and killed in Tulsa Wednesday morning and the suspect has escaped, authorities said.

The incident started in the 800 block of North Greenwood when 38-year old John Larkin shot 27-year old Jessie Lynn Hurt to death, police said. Hurt was thought to have been dating Larkin's ex-girlfriend.

The alleged ex-girlfriend took Hurt to a Tulsa-area hospital where he died a short time ago, police said. The woman's name has not been released.

Tulsa police believed Larkin was hiding in a nearby apartment at about Greenwood and Oklahoma, but when the police finally entered into the apartment, Larkin was nowhere to be found.

Authorities warn Larkin is considered to be armed.
