Norman wreck leaves one man dead, 6 people hospitalized

NORMAN, Okla. -- A Del City man died and six people were hospitalized Sunday after a wreck in southeast Norman.

David Roland Ek, 76, was pronounced dead on the scene of the wreck near SE 120 Avenue and State Highway 9, according to a police report. Six other people involved in the two-car crash were taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not available Sunday night.

The wreck occured shortly before 2 p.m. Ek's vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 9 when it collided with a vehicle that was turning onto the highway from 120 Avenue, according to the initial investigation.

Police said they are still investigating the wreck.
