A longtime artist used a unique style of painting to remember the Oklahoma City bombing and other events that have shaped America's history, but some people from the Paseo district are not happy to see the painted atrocities.

The artist said there's one reason his work focuses on events like the bombing and the 9/11 attacks.

"What I do is a I paint stylized renditions of true life historical atrocities and I do that to re-sensitize people to these true tragic events so that they're not forgotten," artist Eric Humphries said.

Humphries said he understands people disagree with his methods, but his goal is to get them to think once again about the tragic events.

"I get people who are very happy about what I'm doing because it's memorializing the victims and re-sensitizing people," Humphries said. "I get people who think it's not a good thing for me to do that. There is some controversy because some people want to let things lie and that's not what these canvasses are about."

Humphries has sold over 30 paintings in the past few years. To view some of his work, click here.
