Man arrested in fatal hit-and-run incident identified

Joseph Charles Pierce III has been arrested in the death of a 46-year-old woman, Sgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department said.

Mary Jo Longfellow was killed last night when two cars slammed into her near SW 44 St. and S. Pennsylvania Ave., police said.

Longfellow was crossing the street when she was hit by a green Pontiac Grand Am and a gray mid-sized vehicle around 10:30 p.m., authorities said.

That Pontiac was found later today near SW 55 St. and S. Agnew Ave. Knight said the car was being towed for further analysis.

Oklahoma City police spokesman Paco Balderrama said the case is being investigated as a hit-and-run.

Pierce now faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of a deadly accident.
