EDMOND, Okla. - An Edmond church is honoring the men and women who have sacrificed their lives for this country.

The members of the Fairview Baptist Church hosted a special Memorial Day service on Sunday. The church met outside under an American flag in honor of the holiday. Pastor Paul Blair also sends a letter to Oklahoma families who have lost a loved one in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

"Trying to let them know that we thank them for the sacrifice and they are not alone, we're praying for them and we wish the very best for them," Blair said.

Veteran Emett Clark said the holiday means a lot to him. He served in the 101st Airborne in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968.

"It means a day that I can dedicate my life to be as good as I possibly can and for those that I knew that lost their lives," he said. "They were very, very close friends."
