Professor Stephen Sloan, an expert on terrorism, is providing insight into terrorist attacks through commentary.
Sloan is back in Oklahoma to give 40 years worth of acquired knowledge in the study of terrorism to the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism.
The professor said he wants to pass on his knowledge to those interested.
"I want it to be used, whether it is a police officer or a young graduate student," Sloan said. "I want it to be used."
At a reception for the professor, his work was on display in books, periodicals and video.
Sloan studied the evolution of terrorism, saying in current times, religious extremists and the use of the Internet is significant.
"With the Internet, terrorists can engage in propaganda, can coordinate operations, yet maintain their security," Sloan said.
The pioneer in terrorism research also had first-hand experience. He was in Oklahoma City during the Murrah Building bombing and said he hopes his contributions will shed clarity on why terrorists strike.
"There is no reason to believe it won't happen again," Sloan said. "I think the key aspect is how we respond, that we don't overreact."
Sloan plans to add 40 years worth of files to the collection at the Memorial Institute.
