A metro mom is recovering from a violent attack in her own apartment. Other residents are on high alert for the suspect who is still on the loose.

There's a very high level of concern at the Savannah Pointe apartments. Some residents said the man responsible for the attack was back at the complex just hours after he stabbed a woman in the face and robbed her.

Friday afternoon a young mother of three called 911 and told police she had been attacked.

"She was met by the suspect when she opened the front door," police said. "He then stabbed her in the face."

Warr Acres police said after the attack, the suspect took off into the complex with the 26-year-old victim's money and cell phone.

The victim was able to provide police with enough details to make a composite of what the attacker may look like.

Amanda Cole said she saw him just after daybreak Saturday.

"When you first pull into the apartments, he was sitting in the corner brick stone," Cole said.

Anthony Gale said police questioned him because of the slight resemblance.

"I said, ‘No, it wasn't me,'" Gale said.

Officials said the victim was still in the hospital and in fair condition. Police said the suspect was seen driving a four-door, dark blue Ford Explorer with a missing side view mirror.

Police said the man may be around 40-years-old. He's 6 feet tall, weighs 250 pounds and has a missing front tooth. If you recognize him you're asked to call the Warr Acres Police Department at 789-3329.
