I am finally getting a chance to blog once again. It has been a great year, so far, for my "Your Life Your Way" series, so many wonderful stories have come in and I am confident there are many more out there. Feel free to send me your stories by going to the "Your life" page, and send me an email.

Today's story was truly inspiring. Jim Marlowe, one of News 9's maintenance technicians, embarked on a weight loss journey  3 1/2 months ago hoping to lose 95 pounds. I have to admit, I was skeptical that he would be able to lose that much weight, all on his own, no doctors, no surgery, no Hoodia or Metabolife (is this even still around?) or any other pills, just a solid diet plan of healthy foods and an attempt at exercise.

Jim cut out a lot of refined sugars, high fat foods and steered clear of all breads. He also started walking, at first it was just one mile now he is up to 3.1 miles. All of this has added up to 59 pounds lost. Jim is down to 210, but wants to get down to 175-180lbs, and by the looks of things he is well on his way to making it.

Here's exactly what Jim has been eating for the past 3 1/2 months:

Breakfast- Banana

Lunch- Sandwich and salad

Dinner- Sandwich and a large can of soup.

Snacks- Fruits, different types of nuts

Jim says if he can do this, anyone can. It just takes a little discipline and for him the support of his wife and friends have been invaluable. His wife has also lost 30 pounds in following a similar plan.

I will keep track of Jim's progress. I had an offer from a local trainer and dietitian to work with him further which Jim told me he thinks sounds like a great offer.

I hope this has inspired you to start reaching towards your own weight loss goals. It is certainly never too late to start.

Best of luck to you and again, keep your story ideas coming!

Amy
