Save on your spring flowers

It's my favorite time of year, I love the springtime!!!  Easter, my son's birthday, my dad's birthday, it always is a big time for our family!   It also reminds me of a renewal time.  Our family loves spring flowers too, but sometimes all that color can be costly. A couple of savings ideas when it comes to spring planting do it yourself.

One idea, buy several pots, filling each with blooms of the same color. It will be a great splash of color.   I love geraniums, they just need a little water, sunshine and there you go.   

Now if you are going for a big project like a Japanese water garden, or Koi pond, get bids. Experts say three bids should result in the best deal to save you money.  Another thing to think about if you are selling your home, realtors will tell you a home's landscaping can affect how quickly your house will sell.         

 On a different note, maybe you are trying to pay off your current home loan. Here is a great idea to save thousands of dollars on interest payments.  If you will just make one extra mortgage payment every year you can save thousands of dollars on your mortgage.  For Instance, on a $200,000, 30 year note at 6.5% interest one extra payment a year could cut six years off your mortgage, and save you almost $100,000 in interest.  Now that is power for your pocketbook!
