Gov. Henry signs 13 bills into law

Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry signed 13 bills into law Monday afternoon, some of which are centered around the well-being of children and others around municipality employees.

House Bill 2533 was one of the bills signed into law Monday and modifies who will become a member of the Oklahoma State Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision council. The council is just one in 35 states that closely regulates the movements and supervision of certain sex offenders.

Another bill, HB 2958, concerns the placement of a child once the Department of Human Services has been called about the child's welfare. This House-initiated bill reads that the state will work harder at permanently placing a child once the child has been placed into custody. The state will also work to place the child in a home of similar religious beliefs.

Two bills center on municipality employees. HB 2674 spells out which municipality employees needs to certification training from the Oklahoma Code Enforcement Association. HB 2557 modifies which municipality officials must attend an institute for municipal officials within one year of taking office.
