Clayton man dies, passenger hurt in collision

A 45-year-old man was killed early Monday when his car struck a tractor-trailer truck on U.S. 177 in Lincoln County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

A 45-year-old man was killed early Monday when his car struck a tractor-trailer truck on U.S. 177 in Lincoln County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Jimmy Clagg, of Clayton, Okla., died at the scene after his car crossed left of center and hit the truck, troopers said.

Matthew Cagle, 21, a passenger in Clagg's car, was airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition. Cagle was pinned for about an hour before emergency workers freed him, troopers said.

The truck swerved onto the shoulder to avoid the oncoming car, but the car hit the truck's rear , troopers said.

The truck's occupants were not injured, troopers said.
