Race car driver burned in crash is 12-year-old

A young girl hospitalized Saturday night with severe burns after a crash at an Oklahoma City race track is 12-years-old, said authorities.

A fire official said the girl suffered severe burns after the crash at the I-44 Speedway in southwest Oklahoma City.

A spokeswoman for the Emergency Medical Services Authority said the girl was taken to OU Medical Center in critical condition and then transferred to a burn center in Galveston, Texas.

Fire officials said she has severe burns on her back, arms, legs and neck.

The girl's name has not yet been released.
