A five-hour stand-off in northwest Oklahoma City ended peacefully early Friday morning.

Police were called out to house near NW 5 St. and Interstate 40 at around 10:30 p.m. on an attempted suicide. When officials arrived on the scene, they found a man who had barricaded himself inside his home and shooting his gun.

Officers said the man was firing his weapon randomly and police did not believe there was a particular target. However, authorities did shut down I-40 for an hour to avoid anyone on the highway being struck by the random gunshots.

"The community came together as law enforcement," said Mike Klika of the Oklahoma City Police Department. "We used Yukon, we used Oklahoma County -- we used all of our resources at Oklahoma City -- and we appreciate everyone's help in this matter."

The man was not arrested for any crimes, said police, but he was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The man's name has not been released at this time.
