Once the tornado warning was issued in Oklahoma County radios and storm sirens sounded across the metro-area. However, some Edmond residents said they did not hear the sirens while inside their homes.

Edmond's emergency manager said the sirens are not meant to warn those inside.

"When we activate our devices they are called outdoor warning devices, they are primarily meant for people who are outside who have no other means of warning," said Mike Magee, Edmond's emergency manager. "Inside your house, you have several means."

Edmond officials also said the sirens went off twice on Monday, but are only programmed to go off once.
