EXTRA: Bills passed before Thursday deadline

Oklahoma House members had until Thursday to pass proposed bills through to the state Senate. Speaker of the House of Representatives Chris Benge said on Monday that members would try to hear about 230 bills before the Thursday deadline.

A couple notable bills passed in the House this week are:

• HB 1678 -- would provide a five-year income tax exemption to anyone moving from out of state to a rural city or county in Oklahoma.HB 2211 -- Students who express religious views at school would be guaranteed the same protections as students expressing secular views.
•  HB 2863 -- Child care facilities could be required to carry liability insurance to protect the families of children who are injured or killed as a result of the day care operator's negligence.
• HB 3325, 3145, 3334, 3339, 1677 -- all work towards modernizing the state government like accepting vendor payments electronically, create enterprise agencies, and create the Office of Information Services, which would centralize the state's information systems and information technology.
