A $239,000 manpower study is underway in the Oklahoma City police department.

The results will help determine if there are enough officers on the street. Right now, there are 1,033 authorized positions for police officers in the city. We're told response times are currently acceptable in Oklahoma City. But Police Chief Bill Citty says he wants to see his department grow.

"We are not sacrificing safety for the police officers or the public at this point, but we want to make sure we are keeping up with the pace, the growth," Oklahoma City Police Chief Bill Citty said.

The manpower study has been delayed. The police chief says the results should be available in a month or so.
