A disappointing end for the Sooners football team this year. The University of Oklahoma football team started the season in eighth place and ended the season in the exact same spot.

After two regular season losses, one at Colorado and one at Texas Tech, the Sooners took on West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl. However, the bowl didn't go the way they had anticipated and the Sooners came home with a big loss.

That bowl loss put OU back down to number eight in both major polls exactly where they started the season.

The University of Georgia president is proposing a playoff system similar to the NCAA.  The plan is the NCAA would seat eight teams into four bowls--the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta and Orange bowls.

Next week, the four winners play semi-final games. The championship game will be held in two weeks.
