Many Iowans are headed to the voting booths today to cast their choice in the nation's first presidential race caucus.
Candidates have been criss-crossing the state for weeks and all eyes will be on the tote boards tonight. The polls have Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards in a relative tie. Republicans Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee are also neck-and-neck. But polls are just an indicator; getting supporters to the voting booths is another story.
The candidates tried to spread last minute pleas on national television to encourage their supporters to not miss this chance to cast their preference.
"Call your friends, pick up a buddy," suggested Clinton in an ad.
Candidates also made last minute efforts with their ads to criticize their opponents.
"I guess he's more focused on the caucus in L.A. than the caucus in Iowa," said Mitt Romney about Huckabee's absence in Iowa.
