CINCINNATI -- Macy's Incorporated says it will close nine underperforming stores across the country including one in Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma store to be shut down is in Crossroads Mall in south Oklahoma City. Macy's has two other stores in Oklahoma City and three in Tulsa.
The other stores being closed are in Cleveland: Dallas: Houston; Indianapolis; Lake Charles, Louisiana; and in Utah.
Macy's chairman and CEO Terry Lundgren says the closings are necessary because of declining sales and a lack of growth opportunities.
Macy's operates more than 850 department stores in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico under the names Macy's and Bloomingdale's.
