Severe flash flooding is causing major travel issues in Norman on Saturday morning as heavy rain continues to pour across the area.

Multiple cars have stalled near Gaylord Stadium south of downtown Norman after the first wave of storms swept through. Rainfall has only intensified over the past 15 minutes, leading to dangerous driving conditions in the area.

Authorities have closed down Jenkins Avenue from Lindsay Street to Constitution Street in Norman due to rising water levels. Officials are urging drivers to avoid the area and say travel is not recommended at this time.

The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for both Moore and Norman, as water levels on reads continue to rise rapidly. Forecasters warn that additional rounds of rain could worsen flooding through the afternoon.
