‘Sinners’ Brings Supernatural Thrills
Award-winning writer and director Ryan Coogler teams up with Michael B. Jordan for the fifth time in "Sinners," an R-rated supernatural thriller set in 1932. The story follows twin brothers, Smoke and Stack—both portrayed by Jordan—who return to their Mississippi hometown to open a juke joint after serving as soldiers and bootleggers. While they find success, the town is soon haunted by bizarre, unexplainable events. As evil breaks loose at night, the community must band together to survive.
‘Sneaks’ Thinks Outside the Box
Anthony Mackie, Martin Lawrence, and Laurence Fishburne lend their voices to "Sneaks," a PG-rated animated film centered on sneakers. The story follows Ty, a rare collector sneaker, and his sister Maxine, who are stolen by a rogue shoe known as The Collector. Separated in the chaos of New York City, Ty teams up with JB, a scrappy, streetwise sneak, to find his sister and escape. Along the way, Ty learns that life is sometimes best lived outside the box.
‘The Ballad of Wallis Island’ Blends Music and Isolation
"The Ballad of Wallis Island" stars Tim Key as Charles, a lottery winner living in isolation. He convinces his favorite defunct musical duo—portrayed by Tom Basden and Carey Mulligan—to reunite for a private concert on his remote island. What begins as Charles’ dream come true quickly unravels as old tensions between the former bandmates and ex-lovers threaten to derail his plan. The film is rated PG.
