In a protest held outside of the Yukon City Council meeting on Tuesday, more than three dozen protesters showed up to express their concerns.

The protest preceded a vote by the Yukon City Council to decide on a $60,000 budget cap for a venue feasibility study.

"We're here to let the City Council know we don't want it. We don't want it there, but we know that it's prime for development and we want to bring them better ideas--better ways to use that property that can grow Yukon and just keep it a wonderful place to live," said protest organizer Zak Kastl.

Residents expressed concern about their neighborhoods near Frisco Road and I-40.

"We enjoy our backyard. We have a pool. We do cookouts. We have neighbors who come over and hang out. This is just -- it's going to destroy our peace,” shared Lisa Hobbs, a concerned resident.

Leesa Williams, a Keller Williams realtor, said if residents wanted to sell their homes, they would have to disclose the amphitheater to potential buyers.

"The one thing that impacts homes as far as dropping property value is noise and traffic, and this is going to blow three neighborhoods completely out," Williams explained.

Williams added that she is a concertgoer, but worries about drinking and driving.

"The purpose of it is to entertain people who don't live in Yukon. The noise and traffic and drunk driving come at the expense of the people who do live in Yukon," said concerned resident Bill Baker.

For Stephanie Burdine, "The tax dollars are my main concern. I just don't want the citizens of Yukon to be an experiment to see if his copycat business model is going to work."

Three council members voted yes on the $60,000 budget cap for the venue feasibility study. One council member voted no, and one council member was absent.

Council member Shelli Selby voted no.
