Yukon horse ranch offers up-close experience with Clydesdales

While most people see Clydesdales on television, a Yukon ranch offers guests the chance to get up close and personal with the horses.

YUKON, Okla. -

Most people are used to seeing Clydesdale horses on television during commercials for the Super Bowl, but a ranch in Yukon offers guests to see them in person.

The Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch visited Express Clydesdales in Yukon to learn more from animal handlers.

Renowned for their imposing size, Express Clydesdales Barn Manager Tabitha Hageman said the breed of horses can measure over six feet tall, and introduced the News 9 team to Tigger, one of the horses on the ranch.

"In hands, he'd be 18-2, which means he's six-foot-two, just to his wither bone here," Hageman said. "So not even counting up to the top of his head."

Hageman said most people are shocked but the sheer size of the horses, and said often, guests will stand and stare in amazement at the size and demeanor of the animals.

"The [horses are] just some of the calmest horses you'll ever meet," Hageman said. "I just love them. We love taking them to parades and rodeo and their missions and having school groups out here and all that, because they're so calm."
