Thousands of Oklahoma City Thunder fans were at the BOK Center Thursday night cheering the team on against the New Zealand Breakers. Fans love the chance to see their team in their own backyard and get a look at this year’s roster.
Fans rushed in right when the doors opened at 6 p.m. and were greeted by the Thunder Drummers. Many also stopped to buy team jerseys and chat with players, getting autographs before the game. People were excited to see their favorite players take the court and see how the new team is coming together.
Jason and Sam Slavens say as soon as the tickets for this game came out, they knew it was something they wanted to do.
“We like the Thunder because it’s our home team, and we’ve been fans for like four years now,” said Jason Slavens.
“He just started watching basketball and we got into it,” said Sam Slavens. “We go to almost all of the Thunder games, and it’s just a thing that we do together.”
Sandra Boaz says she comes to this game every year because it’s easier to get to than OKC.
“I love the Thunder guys,” said Boaz. “J Will is my favorite; I had to come see his beautiful smile that he always gives to everybody. My mother got me into basketball before she passed away, and I just love it.”
The Thunder’s next home game will be next Thursday at the Paycom Center against the Atlanta Hawks.
