The Utah Jazz have signed guard Max Abmas to an undisclosed deal.
While the terms of the deal were not released, Abmas is set to begin his NBA journey after a stellar collegiate career.
As a 6-foot guard from Rockwall, Texas, Abmas played four seasons at ORU from 2019 to 2023, where he left a lasting legacy. During his time at ORU, Abmas averaged 20.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.1 steals across 123 games. His consistent performance earned him a spot on the All-Summit League First Team in three consecutive seasons (2021, 2022, and 2023). He was also named Summit League Player of the Year twice (2021 and 2023), underscoring his dominance on the court.
In the 2020-21 season, Abmas led the entire NCAA in scoring, averaging 24.5 points per game. His scoring ability was on full display during ORU's remarkable run to the Sweet 16 of the 2021 NCAA tournament. By the end of his college career, Abmas had accumulated 3,131 points, ranking him eighth in NCAA Division I men’s basketball history.
After his time at ORU, Abmas transferred to the University of Texas for the 2023-24 season, where he averaged 16.8 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.1 rebounds and earned spots on the All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Big 12 Newcomer Team.
