The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Mannford that they say may have been the result of road rage.
OHP troopers said 37-year-old Adam Stephenson died in the crash.
Investigators are urging people to stop listening to rumors and allow them to work on the crash and follow the evidence.
“Our hearts go out to the families that lost a loved one. It's heartbreaking,” said Lt. Mark Southall with OHP.
The crash is still under investigation, but troopers believe road rage may have been a factor.
“It appears at this time that a Jeep was turning into a private drive, and a four-door SUV was passing the Jeep that was turning into the private drive,” Southall said. “The Jeep then followed the SUV and swerved from the left to the right into the back of the SUV, contacting the SUV. At that point, both vehicles overturned. The Jeep rolled and then ejected both the driver and the passenger, and then the SUV overturned.”
Investigators are still working to determine what may have caused emotions to run high.
"Wait until the full investigation is done. Wait until we collect all the facts," Southall said. "Honestly, that's really what we want to wait [for] at this point, is that all the facts are collected, the case is fully presented, and then people can look and make their decisions based off what the case shows. That's what we want."
OHP said had Stephenson been wearing a seatbelt, he might have survived the crash.
