The Cowboys and Golden Hurricane matchup for the 76th time on Saturday, this time in Tulsa.
One week after playing Arkansas for the first time in more than 40 years, OSU comes to TU to renew the Turnpike Classic. The last time the Golden Hurricanes and the Cowboys played was three seasons ago.
OSU has won the last nine meetings, and the teams come into this matchup off different outcomes. The Cowboys had a dramatic double-overtime rally past the Razorbacks 39-31 and a defensive stop to end it.
The Golden Hurricane had chances in a tight 28-24 loss at Arkansas State. TU led that game 17-7 at halftime. Both coaches are happy the OSU-TU series is back on.
“I think it's a good thing, just like I think the Arkansas series is a good one. It makes sense, you know, based on what both sides are trying to get accomplished,” Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy said.
“It's easy to travel, it's not like, you know, we're paying each other a lot to come over, and our venue maybe is not as big but it is, you know, a break for some of their fans that travel Stillwater, 6,7,8 times a year. They'll have a huge crowd of as many fans, probably, as we will,” Tulsa head coach Kevin Wilson said.
The Cowboys and Golden Hurricane kickoff on Saturday at 11 a.m. at H.A. Chapman Stadium.
