Crews Battle Abandoned House Fire In NW Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City firefighters responded to a fire at an abandoned house around 1 a.m. near Broadway and 17th Street.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department said no one was inside the home, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire Chief Major Travis Fryrear said a passerby saw the fire and stopped to help before crews arrived.

"I think she was trying to help," Fryrear said. "When she drove by, she probably saw the same conditions we had and was making sure no one was in the structure."

The woman injured her hand while helping but was treated and released at the scene.
