Community Pays Respect To Fallen Firefighter

A Chickasha firefighter was laid to rest Friday afternoon, after suddenly dying while on vacation.

Michael Wise was with his family in Jamaica when he suddenly passed.

Chickasha Fire Chief Tony Samaniego called Mike a friend, mentor, and the life of the party.

Friday's funeral follows 17 days of fighting to bring Mike home from Jamaica to give him a proper goodbye.

Mike being fine leaves a big void in all of our hearts and within the fire department and the community," said Samaniego. " As good of a firefighter as he was, I think he took even more pride in being a good dad and a husband.

Samaniego says if there's one thing to take away, it's to "live like Mike" by having fun at work and making every day enjoyable.
