Yukon High School has lifted the lockdown that was issued Friday morning after an altercation involving a stabbing was reported by a student, according to Yukon High School.
According to a press release from Yukon High School, police responded to a reported stabbing involving a female student and an adult man.
The school was put on a preventative lockdown while police worked to locate the suspect.
After investigating the incident, police determined that the student falsely reported it, and according to the release, it has been determined that the incident was fabricated.
Yukon High School said counseling services and additional support are available for any students or staff who may need assistance.
In the press release, Yukon High School said Yukon Police would like to emphasize the seriousness of making false reports saying:
"Fabricating such events not only wastes valuable resources and time but also undermines the trust and credibility of our community's safety institutions. While we are relieved that no actual harm occurred in this instance, we condemn the actions of those who knowingly mislead law enforcement and the public. Such behavior detracts from the genuine needs of our community and hampers efforts to address real safety concerns. We urge the public to remain vigilant and to report genuine incidents promptly and accurately. Maintaining the integrity of our reporting system is essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of our community."
The name of the student involved has not been released.
