A midtown Tulsa family is complete with their dog back home after it was stolen and taken to New Mexico.

The family said thanks to the neighborhood's flock cameras and security cameras on neighboring homes, they were able to track the dog down, and the person behind it.

Napa and Sonoma have been attached at the hip for 10 years, but on Nov. 11th, everything changed in the midtown Tulsa neighborhood.

Home security footage showed a vehicle pulling up next to the dogs and the driver luring Napa inside. It turns out flock cameras in the neighborhood had snapshots of the same car.

The Forest Hills Homeowners Association President, Frank Rhoades, said this was all police needed to start their investigation.

"The only reason this crime was solved is because we had both the flock cameras and an identification of the act by a video camera on a house, so you really need both," he said.

Tulsa Police ran the plate and discovered it was a rental car from Albuquerque, so police in New Mexico picked it up from there. Napa, the dog, was inside a home in Albuquerque, waiting to be rescued.

The dog's owners said Albuquerque Police Officer Duda went to the house and asked for the dog back. The culprit complied, and the dog was placed into the police cruiser. Napa was home by 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 15th, four days after she was taken.

Napa's owners said they are not pursuing charges, but they have put AirTags on both of their dogs.
