Police released new details on Monday after a shootout inside a northwest Oklahoma City home that left one man dead, and another man injured.

The shooting happened near Northwest 158th Street and MacArthur Boulevard last Thursday while six children were present. Police said none of the children were hurt.

Police said the mother of the six children was not home at the time of the shooting. Court documents filed in Oklahoma County this year revealed the mother was likely the target of the shooting. The woman stated in a victim protective order application that her estranged husband and father of the children tracked them down from Georgia.

Bob Mills Sky News 9 flew over the scene near Deer Creek last Thursday. Police were called to the home on a reported shooting involving two victims.

“They have brought in the crime scene unit and they’re taping it all off and like I said one male was loaded in an ambulance,” said Jim Gardener, Bob Mills Sky News 9 pilot.

When officers arrived, they found 58-year-old Roy Joseph Junior dead in the home and 64-year-old Terrance Pipkins shot multiple times. Pipkins was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Police said the injured relative was watching six children ages 2 to 11.

“I don’t know if they witnessed anything crime-related but I do know there were children there and all of them were safe,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department.

Security video given to News 9 from neighbors showed a moving van driving down the street multiple times hours before the shooting. The same van was parked in front of the family’s home and believed to have been driven by Joseph.

According to court filings, Joseph's estranged wife filed for two victim protective orders this year. The woman stated in the documents she fled from Georgia to Oklahoma last year with their six children for their safety. She stated Joseph threatened to kill her several times and was arrested on various domestic-related complaints.

Also, in February of this year, she suspected a tracker was on her car. She said Edmond police located and removed the tracker from her vehicle.

No one has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting. Police said the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office will determine if the relative who fired at Joseph acted in self-defense.
