Village City Council Approves Agreement To Send Inmates To Yukon

The Village City Council voted to approve an agreement with the City of Yukon regarding the housing of the former's inmates.

On Monday, The Village City Council voted to approve an agreement with the Yukon Police Department, where Yukon would house inmates for $42 a day.

The Village Vice Mayor Sean Cummings said Yukon is a safer option for inmates than the Oklahoma County Jail.

“If you can’t pass a health inspection, I’m not gonna make somebody stay there,” Cummings said regarding the Oklahoma City corrections facility.

The City of Yukon still has to give its approval before the agreement is finalized.
