Good morning and happy first day of summer! Summer officially arrives tonight with the arrival of the summer solstice. Today is the longest day of the year with the most amount of daylight.
Very warm and humid out the door with clear skies, temperatures in the mid 70s and a south breeze.
Winds will gradually increase through the day today with gusts to 25 and 30mph here in the metro... a little stronger in the Northwest. Highs today climb back in the 90s with heat index values near 100 and tons of sunshine.
Winds crank up even more tonight with gusts to 35 and 40mph under clear skies. Another very warm, dry and muggy night.
Your Saturday is a rinse and repeat with sunshine, hot temperatures and muggy conditions. Winds will be even stronger.
The ridge moves to the east through the weekend and begins to break down some into next week. Temps crank up across the Eastern United States... but this opens up a window for a few showers and storms across the state into next week as our pattern becomes a little more active.
In the short-term, most of us stay totally dry. A slight chance for a few showers/t-storms in the Northwest both Saturday and Sunday afternoon and evening. This will not be widespread.
