Weather Blog: Oklahoma Enters Below-Freezing Range Before Afternoon Warms Up

We'll see below-freezing temps Monday morning as cooler weather sets in across Oklahoma.

We head into the work week with plenty of sunshine but a cold front brings brisk northern winds. Highs will range from the 40s north to 50s south.

Lows on Monday will again drop into the 20s, with Tuesday's highs settling in the upper 40s to mid-50s across the state.

There will be chances for rain later this week, with low to moderate chances in the state's southern portions on Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, we will arm up significantly with highs in the low to mid-60s.

2. Above-Average Rainfall: Nearly 7.75 inches of rain made it a wetter-than-usual month.

Looking Ahead: Cold Fronts and Temperature Swings

1. Near-Term Outlook:
2. Tonight’s lows will dip into the 20s and 30s with light winds.
3. Monday will feel cooler with highs in the low 50s, especially in northern Oklahoma, as a cold front brings in a north breeze.
4. Tuesday morning will bring wind chills in the teens and 20s across much of the state.
5. Midweek Warm-Up:
6. By Wednesday, highs will rebound into the 60s ahead of another cold front arriving Thursday.
7. Long-Term Trend:
8. Forecasters are monitoring a potential stronger cold front early next week, which could bring much colder air to the region.

Dry Conditions Expected

While December is typically one of the drier months in Oklahoma, the forecast reflects limited chances for precipitation over the next nine days.
