Pope Francis underwent surgery on his intestine Wednesday.

This comes just a day after he went to the hospital for a medical checkup.

Aides of the Pope say the 86-year-old will be hospitalized for several days.

Despite concerns over the Pope's health, he maintained a busy schedule before the surgery.
