A metro woman has a message for the family of a motorcycle crash victim, he wasn't left alone.
Alanna Darzi said a group of people remained by his side until he went to the hospital.
“I've been through some traumatizing things in my short years, but you know it's different when you actually see someone being called home,” Darzi said.
Darzi and her family were at a red light at Southeast 44th Street and South Sooner Road when a motorcycle crashed right in front of their car.
“He goes oh my gosh like loud and I’m like what, what happened next thing I know I see a guy on the ground,” Darzi said.
They immediately called 911.
Oklahoma City Police said a man was driving down 44th street at a high rate of speed. He tried to turn left at the intersection when he lost control of his bike.
“We're hearing from witnesses there was a large plume of smoke from the wheels from locking up trying to stop,” Sgt. Eric Long said.
Before emergency crews were there, Darzi and several others were checking on the victim.
“He was helpless. You can't just drive by somebody laying on the ground like that you got to stop and help,” Darzi said.
Darzi noticed the man was not wearing a helmet. She said by his head injury she knew things did not look good.
“We were just like we need to pray for this man,” Darzi said.
Police told News 9 the biker was 48-year-old Michael Davis. He was transported to OU Health, but he did not survive the crash.
“I've never seen anyone die in front of me. I almost started balling I got really upset because they didn't tell us that he had passed, and we were just worrying wondering,” Darzi said.
Darzi said this isn't the first crash she's seen on Sooner Rd but this one sticks with her. She hopes Davis's family finds comfort in knowing he wasn't left to die alone.
“He wasn't by himself. We were there with him. A few other people were there with him and none of us left. We all stayed there, we just wanted to make sure he was okay and we're all very, very sorry,” Darzi said.
