Governor Kevin Stitt will join British trade minister Nigel Huddleston Tuesday afternoon at the British Embassy for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to improve trade relations between Oklahoma and the United Kingdom.
The Stitt administration said the pact will focus on “increasing trade through deepening economic development” and will recognize the two as “energy leaders and innovators, with a shared focus on reliable and affordable energy.”
Specifically, the agreement is expected to boost green trade, particularly in carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), according to the British ministry.
Further, the ministry said, “[it] aims to boost the $215.6 million worth of goods UK companies exported to Oklahoma in 2022 and generate more jobs for exporters in the UK. Nearly 3,000 jobs in Oklahoma are supported by exports to the UK and nearly 10,000 people in the state are employed by British companies.
The MoU will be the fourth deal Britain has inked with a U.S. state.
