Oklahoma City firefighters responded to another house fire that started at around 3 a.m. Wednesday near Southwest 55th Street and South Klein Avenue.
Firefighters on scene said there were four people home at the time, but everyone including their pets made it outside safely.
"They do have a smoke alarm in the house, they thought it was working but it did not go off," OKCFD Battalion Chief Derrick Kiel said. "They actually heard a noise and went to investigate and that's what woke them up. It's really important to check your smoke alarms monthly and make sure they are operational."
Crews on scene said the fire started in the back of the house and spread to the attic. The cause of the blaze and the amount of damage are unknown at this time.
The Red Cross said they will be assisting the family.
