Statistics show losing an hour of sleep each March has serious impacts on a person's well being.
Tiffany Borucki, a pediatric sleep consultant with "Not a Peep" recommends 7 hours of sleep for adults and 10-12 hours for children.
Borucki said during Daylight Saving Time the longer exposure to light in the evenings makes it more difficult to sleep.
Parents can help make the transition as smooth as possible for their children by gradually adjusting their child's sleep schedule.
Borucki recommends moving your child's bedtime to 15 minutes later and getting their room ready for the extra daylight by using blackout curtains.
Having children keep a consistent bedtime routine and spend time outdoors will help ease the transition.
