A suspected drunk driver was arrested after they slammed into the back of a police officer's vehicle.
It happened along the I-35 Service Road near Southeast 29th Street in southeast Oklahoma City.
“They're coming out, flying, trying to get on the highway, getting off of work,” said Natraun Glover.
Glover was working nearby when he heard the cars colliding.
“Sounded like an explosion, boom! Loud like that,” said Glover.
Glover was told an officer had been hit.
“I was taking an order and they were like ‘a cop had an accident,’ we all said ‘what?’” said Glover.
Glover said he and his colleagues ran to check it out.
“We saw the car, it was hit from behind, the other car was like off the side of the highway,” said Glover.
Patrons leaped into action and ran to the officer’s aid.
“You got a lot of good people out here, they'll see stuff and get involved,” said Glover.
Glover said the officer and other drivers were yielding to a red light when the driver of the SUV failed to stop.
“Lady wasn't paying attention,” said Glover.
A concrete barrier stopped the woman's vehicle from plummeting onto the interstate below.
With her head bandaged, Oklahoma Highway Patrol administered a field sobriety test.
The woman was loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital to get checked out.
The officer was treated for minor injuries.
According to police, the woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
