A tip from a concerned Mustang resident unveils an alleged string of sexual abuse that happened over multiple years while the student was a minor. The person police say is responsible is Mustang High School teacher, Raymond Garner.

Mustang PD's Chief Robert Groseclose said they learned about the alleged sexual assaults on Friday, and the person targeted was one of the teacher's former students.

"Mr. Garner has been employed as a teacher at Mustang Public Schools for the last 33 years," said Chief Groseclose.

Mustang's Police Chief Groseclose says a third party tipped them off to the alleged abuse between Garner and a student who graduated several years ago.

What Chief Groseclose calls an inappropriate and unwanted sexual relationship, spanned three years. Police allege there were hundreds of meetings between Garner and the student while the student attended Mustang High School. Investigators add that the student backed up the allegations against their former teacher.

"Who gave great detail related to numerous, inappropriate sex acts involving Mr. Garner," said Groseclose . "The victim also provided physical evidence further linking Mr. Garner to the crimes."

Police said it's not clear if the alleged abuse continued after the student graduated.

In a message sent out to parents, the Mustang School District says they're shocked, saddened and outraged and they're working with law enforcement in the investigation. The school district also works to give students and staff an outlet.

"Once school is back in session, we'll have counselors available at Mustang HS for any staff and students who need to speak with someone," Mustang School's Superintendent Charles Bradley said.

Garner was arrested on multiple complaints of first-degree rape, lewd or incident acts to a child and forcible sodomy. News 9 has requested records from the State Department of Education for any disciplinary actions, complaints, accusations, or reports made regarding or against Garner over the course of his 33-year teaching career, but has not yet heard back.
