Four teens were arrested after undercover officers said they found them in a stolen Jeep, and an Oklahoma City Police officer is on leave after firing his weapon.

The officer said one of the suspects posed a threat.

The Oklahoma City Police Department said two of those teens were involved in the original carjacking on Sunday.

Two days later, on Tuesday, they were caught in the stolen vehicle outside of an apartment in northwest Oklahoma City.

“The vehicle was in the parking lot here; the officers approached the vehicle when they saw it was a carjacking vehicle during the week. The vehicle was occupied several times,” Capt. Valerie Littlejohn with the Oklahoma City Police Department said.

All of them face complaints of “unauthorized use of a motor vehicle” and “possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony.”

“During that foot chase one of the suspects presented a threat to that officer at which point that officer discharged his firearm towards that suspect. The suspect was not hit, and the officer was not injured either,” she said.

The officer who fired his weapon, a 20-year veteran on the job, is now on paid administrative leave while they run a full investigation.

A probable cause affidavit for one of the suspects, who turned 18 on Wednesday, said during the foot chase “three firearms were discarded in the complex.”

“Several guns were located here at the scene and in the vicinity of where the suspects had fled, and four people have been taken into custody at this time,” Littlejohn said.

Police said two of the suspects that were involved in the initial carjacking could face additional charges.

“There is one person that we believe did flee from the vehicle that we are looking for or trying to get information on to figure out who that person is,” she said.

Police said one of the suspects was bitten by a K-9 during his arrest, but no one was severely hurt.
