A wild, high-speed pursuit through northeast Oklahoma County last Thursday was caught on officer's body cameras.
Oklahoma City police released footage from the hour-long chase and of 22-year-old Hunter Berry’s arrest.
Officers jumped on the pursuit that started with Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office deputies last week.
The police body cameras picked up as Berry was pulling out of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum on the northeast side of the metro.
Officer: “He’s taking off again. He’s a white male with tattoos on his face.”
Police officials said during that last half of the chase, Berry drove onto a rural Oklahoma County property. He allegedly attempted to steal a truck, but instead stole the truck owner’s revolver.
“During the pursuit, the suspect did fire shots at our officers,” Capt. Valerie Littlejohn with the Oklahoma City Police Department said. “One of the bullets hit our officer’s vehicle.”
The pursuit came to an end when the suspect behind the wheel of a stolen SUV lost control and crashed into a tree.
Officers: “Hands up! Come back to me! Walk back, walk back.”
Officers used less-lethal rounds to take Berry into custody.
“We used a 40 millimeter,” Littlejohn said. “Which deploys impact rounds, as well as gas rounds.”
Stunned homeowners in the area spoke to News 9 after the pursuit came to an end.
“We’ve just lived here a year and they said, ‘Oh this is a nice quiet neighborhood,’” Danny McAllister, witness, said.
Berry remains in custody at the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a $300,000 bond. He has not been formally charged for the crimes.
