Oklahoma families gathered together Sunday night to honor children lost from miscarriages or as infants during a candlelight ceremony.

The event, known as "Shine the Light," had people meeting at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in Claremore to make ornaments and remember young lives lost.

Organizers with Compassion Women's Center said it is important to give people going through loss a space to remember their loved ones.

Event coordinator for Compassion Women's Center Catha Ashepak said they want to help people remember their family members who were gone too soon.

"Just know that this season, we want to remember our babies," Ashepak said. "We can still have fun and cherish the season, but still honor them at the same time."

This was the second year for the ceremony, and organizers plan to host the event again in 2023.
