The first graduating classes of Tulsa's McClain High School marked a milestone Saturday.

Classes of 1961 through 1964 came together to celebrate 60 years since graduating.

Decades after they roamed the same halls, the students who made up some of the first classes at McLain High School came back for an emotional reunion.

Of the 983 students who graduated between 1961 and 1964, 70 percent returned for the reunion.

Friends were able to catch up and chat about old memories.

"It's great to see them," Former McClain teacher Dale Schuler said. "A lot of those kids all these years....we don't recognize each other. But we got name tags so I get to see them."

Dale Schuler was a teacher at McLain and says he was able to reunite with some of his former students.

Attendees also took time to remember classmates who have passed on.

Organizer Diana Potts Foster says everyone who was able to make it out was glad to reconnect with their classmates.

"There's lots of stories being told tonight," Foster said. "Lots of memories going on."

Foster says it's important to reconnect as much as possible because life isn't guaranteed.

"You never know what going to happen the next day," Foster said. "That's why y'all have to get together when you can."

Schuler says it was great to see the bond students and teachers kept all these years later.

"It's just a great time to be here and see a lot of my old students," Schuler said. "She got to see a lot of her friends so you know it's kind of a good outing to have once in a while."

Organizers say this will be the last reunion they will have, so they say they are going to cherish this moment.
