Investigators are looking for a murder suspect after a severely beaten man died this week, according to Oklahoma City Police Department officials. The assault occurred at the Plaza Inn motel in southeast Oklahoma City nearly two weeks ago.

Police said on Wednesday no one has been identified or arrested in connection to the deadly assault of 43-year-old Jesus Diaz-Aguirre. Investigators are asking citizens to come forward with information or they can call and leave an anonymous tip through the homicide tip line.

Police said someone called 911 to report an assault at the motel near southeast 29th Street and I-35. The call was made in the early morning hours of July 1.

“They arrived there,” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, Oklahoma City Police Department. “They found one person with consistent injuries with an assault, very violent. Suffered head trauma.”

Diaz-Aguirre was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and was not expected to survive. Police were notified on Tuesday that the victim passed away.

“The victim sadly died after being removed from life support from that head injury,” said Quirk.

The man's family created a GoFundMe four days ago, asking for donations to help cover his medical bills and funeral expenses.

As police investigated the latest assault death, they wrapped up an investigation into a similar killing at the Plaza Inn three months ago. On April 2, a witness called police to report a man was attacked and left for dead in a wooded area behind the motel. Police had to use a drone to find the victim. Marcus Moorer died two weeks after he was taken to the hospital. Two men were arrested in that case, however, police said whoever was responsible for Diaz-Aguirre's death remained on the streets.

“The investigation has now turned into a homicide investigation,” said Quirk. “So, we want to get these suspects identified.”

Police said the latest homicide victim is helping others live. Diaz-Aguirre’s organs were harvested and will be donated to transplant patients.
